iOS 9.3 is not as big a file as iOS 8 was at up to 1.7GB, but you’ll still need a little extra space to make sure everything goes without a hitch.
To those with full fat 128GB iPhones, you won’t have to worry, but those on the skim side of 16GB, and even 32GB phones, might find even this smaller update tough to stomach. That is to say, there’s not enough space to download and install it.
Instead of upgrading to iOS 9.3 over the air via your iPhone, do it via iTunes instead. This is much safer and also requires minimal space given that the update is downloaded to your computer and then pushed to your iPhone.
The next question is then how? Don’t worry, we've got your back. Just follow these 3 steps.
1) Hook your iThing up to your computer
Before you do anything, you want to backup your iPhone or iPad to make sure you don’t lose anything. Lucky for you, we also have the complete lowdown on that. After which, you should hit the “Check for updates” button.
Whatever you do, don’t click "Restore iPhone" which has been so strategically placed right next to it. If not, your iPhone will return to its state of origin - empty as Donald Trump's soul.
2) Say yes to iOS 9.3
A box telling you that iOS 9.3 is available for download will pop up. Click “Download and Update” to do it all in one go. Or click “Download only” if you still have some unfinished business to do on your iPhone.
The default agreements will appear at this point, read what you got to read, click accept, and you’re on your merry way.
3) Wait with bated breath
This part will take a while, so take the time to watch some Silicon Valley, walk your dog, or master the art of patience. But it will all be worth it when you see that 'Hello' roll up on your iPhone. It’s almost as satisfying as buying a new iPhone.
Now, go forth and explore the great new features that iOS 9.3 has in store for you.
