If you weren’t able to get tickets to Laneway, you can either mope the weekend away or take up some of our suggestions instead.

Watch this: The Imitation Game

Counting "People's Choice Award for Best Film" as one of its accolades already, the film follows the life of Alan Turing. Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, it focuses on the defining point of the computer scientist’s career, as he races against time to break the Nazis’ Enigma code with his team.

Dine here: Hungry Heroes

Part gallery and part restaurant, most of the kitschy art you see on the walls of the quirky restaurant are for sale. But food’s the focus obviously. It’s best to dine communal-style at Hungry Heroes with one of their platters.

Try The Steak-Out (S$108), a platter groaning under the weight of the meat feast piled upon it. Serving up to 6 people, it is the best of what Hungry Heroes has to offer: 200gm ribeye, full rack pork ribs, pulled pork, sausage trio, 250gm of de-boned chicken leg, beef stew, and veal osso bucco.

Watch this: Hossan-ah! Safe and secure in his Leong arms

One of the best-loved comedians in Singapore pays tribute to our motherland on her 50th year. Laugh along with Hossan Leong as he celebrates local culture in his musical mash-up style. Who can forget his little We Live in Singapura ditty afterall?

Listen to this: Uptown Special by Mark Ronson

The English artiste is a Jack of all trades, calling himself a producer, DJ and singer. Lead single Uptown Funk features the soulful vocals from Bruno Mars. Aside from that collaboration, Uptown Special is also host to a whole line-up of star appearances from Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, and Stevie Wonder himself.
