10 things you should know before watching Inside Out

Drop trivia bombs on your friends regarding the most emotional Pixar film to date

You might have already read rave reviews for the highly anticipated Pixar offering that’s out in theatres on 27 August.

But before you watch it, here are some things you should know about this emotional animation.

Hatch them all

The film is riddled with Easter eggs which any true Pixar fan will recognise. We won't spoil it for you, since half the fun is spotting them throughout the film.

Okay, we'll give you some clues. Characters from Up, Ratatouille, and Pixar short For the Birds make cameos amongst other often seen Pixar motifs. Make sure you keep an eye out.

The science behind the film

If you’re wondering how accurately the film portrays emotions, the team spoke to psychologists about the science of it in order to get their facts right.

According to one scientist, there are 23 different emotions, but the general idea is that there are six core ones - fear, joy, disgust, sadness, anger, and surprise. As surprise seemed quite similar to fear, they went with the main cast of five in the end.

Cry fest

Get the tissues ready, and girls, wear waterproof makeup for you will cry. There wasn't a dry eye in the house at the end of the preview that we attended. This tearjerker of a film will resonate with everyone. If you don’t? Congratulations, you’re emotionless.
