Both chief exec Steve Ballmer and entertainment and devices chief Robbie Bach have confirmed that Microsoft is set to follow a for profit "software-only strategy" when it comes to mobile phones, and will opt to work with existing handset makes instead of building their own.
Bach continued saying he felt Microsoft would do better just concentrating on the software rather than any hardware, and also added that Windows Mobile capabilities would be improved to make it, well, better.
Apparently these improvements will be seen on the WiMo 6.5 update thanks to "significant" investment and "quality talent" over the past year.
When we'll finally see 6.5 is still anyone's guess, but it'll be interesting to see what Microsoft has up its sleeve.
What improvements would you like to see in 6.5, and is Microsoft making a mistake neglecting the handset market? Let us know what you think below.
