NDS, the bods behind the Sky + box, have been showing Stuff some of the tech they’ll be bringing to your living rooms in just a few years. Based around a DVR, like a Sky+ box, the lounge of the future will see content synchronise seamlessly with your phone and PMP. SynchronicityCome in of an evening, put your phone down and it’ll automatically update all your favourite series and delete old episodes, ready for the commute the next morning, just like podcasts in iTunes. But potentially, a TV operator would be able to offer much more choice and for free, as it already owns the content and has your subscription. Pay-per-view movies would still exist, but the charge could potentially be offset with commercials. Choose to watch with ads and your flick is free. Or, if you’re feeling flush, enjoy an uninterrupted feature. Think your movie’s so good you want to share the joy? Press the gift button and it’ll send itself wirelessly to a friend’s mobile or PMP, which they’ll see as a small present icon on their display.
