Xbox 720 not arriving in 2012 says Microsoft France
The Wii U looks set to be the only next-gen console dropping this year, but will we still glimpse the Xbox 720 at E3?
Microsoft France’s marketing director Cedrick Delmas has stated in an interview with Lepoint.fr that the Xbox 720 will not be released this year, using the lack of an Xbox 360 price cut as proof.
In an interview translated by Eurogamer, Delmas stated that there will be nothing new in 2012 and that Microsoft are not trying to compete with Nintendo’s Wii U, due to be released later this year.
There have already been a few rumours surrounding this year’s E3 where we expect the Xbox 720 to be announced, including its six times greater performance over the Xbox 360 and Kinect 2 and Blu-ray functionality.
With Sony confirming that the PlayStation 4 will not be making an appearance at this year’s E3 and an expected 2013 release date for the Xbox 720, it looks like Nintendo will be flying the next-gen flag solo, for 2012 at least.
