Windows 8 public beta is dropping in February

Microsoft’s next gen OS will make its mark early next year – with a lick of polish and an app store to boot

Microsoft has announced that the public beta version of Windows 8 will be hitting PCs in February. This version should be more polished than our hands on developer preview and will also coincide with the Windows 8 app store launch.

Featuring a Bing-indexed store catalogue and a finger-friendly Metro UI, the app store’s offering of games and digital content should be enough to make the beta version of Microsoft’s next-gen OS a more appealing prospect to tinker with.
