The rumours were true, and then some. Archos' new PVR baby does have a 7in screen and will playback in full luscious DVD quality. But what a whopper it is.The screen has ballooned from a meagre 480x272pixel 4.3in on the 604, to a massive 800x480pixel 7in on the new 704 (pictured). But don't confuse this for its slim portable predecessor. It's now more than twice the size and more than twice the weight at a hefty 630g.Still, that means plenty of room for storage – now up to 80GB – and a bigger, better battery capable of a transatlantic crossing five hours of video or a stonking 22 hours of music. It retains all the video streaming and downloading tricks of the 604 WiFi, but that luscious hi-res display means web browsing with the bundled Opera software could trounce the likes of Nokia's N800 Wi-Fi tablet. The optional DVR docking station for your telly even turns it into a full hard disk recorder. If you've got the muscle, we reckon this could be the ultimate portable and home video combo. Just don't expect to go jogging with it – unless you're weight training, of course.
