OK, so it's strictly a software download, but it's an extremely cool one – even though it's still in development, Songbird has already been touted as "the Firefox of media players", and it's easy to see why.

Built on the same platform as Firefox, this little feathered fellow functions as a digital jukebox a la iTunes, but also makes it beautifully simple to search music blogs, stores and social networking sites for tunes to match your tastes, and subscribe to them so that your Songbird playlist is updated daily.

Like the previously mentioned Hype Machine, you can customise Songbird to scour for a certain band or genre and it will automatically add tunes to your collection. Unlike Hype Machine, it has a beautifully friendly interface (AND the best logo since Tux, the Linux penguin). What's more, it's all happy-clappy open-sourcey, and the guys seem genuinely interested in user feedback and any cool plug-ins you have to offer.

And unlike iTunes, it'll support all major formats – MP3, AAC, OGG, FLAC and WMA. Oh, and it'll perform the same functions for videos too... Tweet.
