A deal announced today confirms what we already knew: Vodafone is about to launch a broadband service for the home. Its execs are remaining tight-lipped about exactly what today's agreement with BT means but they have told us that the new services will be unveiled before the end of the year. What's likely is a deal similar to Orange's offer of free broadband to its higher-paying customers and some sort of quadruple offering of TV, internet, landline and mobile services as per Orange and Virgin Mobile. Exactly who the red network will pally up with remains to be seen but it’s already shared a bed with Sky through its Sky mobile channels. It all brings to a close a torrid year for the broadband market. Watch this space for details on how Vodafone plans to compete, as we get them.
