Podcasting always sounded a little like the beginnings of an alien invasion, and here at Stuff we threw our hands up willingly. Now we’re whipping out the white flag again – video podcasting has just booted down our door.

OK, so video downloads may not be brand new, but with biggies like Sky setting the pace, it could be about to take off. Sky has launched the UK’s first ever news podcasting service so you’ll be able to download Sky News video clips of the latest news and sport directly to your iPod or multimedia player.

You can get the Sky News video podcasting service via the website. It’s taking off with 7 Days (a rundown of the week’s lighter stories) but soon you’ll have access to a whole library of downloadable video clips and a weekly audio podcast from Sky News’ political editor Adam Boulton.

Meanwhile, from another galaxy not so far, far away, the European cinema internet portal AlloCine is bestowing the gift of endless movie trailers.

If you’ve got an iPod Video - get out the hankies if you haven’t, it’s iPods only right now – all you need to do is subscribe to the AlloCine Podcast and any new trailers will download automatically each week for free.

Just click here to cop a peek at an eclectic range of new or soon to be released films such as war’s-a-bore Jarhead, Cash biopic Walk the Line and spoof mystery remake The Pink Panther. We surrender.
