Deck your DVD cabinet with boughs of holly: Tosh's new HD-E1 and HD-XE1 players, slated to arrive on these shores by Christmas, will be here in November. The HD-DVD boxes are going head to head with the higher capacity Blu-Rays from Panasonic and Samsung, which are poised and ready to go next month. But while Samsung's BD-P1000 is rumoured to be going on sale for just under a grand, the cheapest Toshiba will sell for less than half that amount. The high-end XE1 will have 1080p support while the E1 makes do with 1080i. Both will be slimmed down from their American versions. Just 10,000 of the players are promised in the initial Euro shipment. Toshiba assures us the first wave will be coming to the UK. However, we'll have to share them with the French and Germans. We were impressed by our first look so get ready to queue.
