Twitter turns your mobile into a satellite phone

Now you'll even be able to tweet from a war zone, should the need take you

Twitter's bid for world domination has now stretched to outer space with the social network, presumably in a bid to become all encompassing, signing up for the use of two satellites that let you tweet even when you have no mobile signal.

Using a special code you'll be able to tweet from your mobile even when there is no connection from your network, using the Iridium and Thuraya satellites.

This new Twitter feature is ideal for news journalists, people living in countries with oppressive governments, and those without smartphones. Sure, you’ll probably never need to use it (unless you get kidnapped in a war) but it’s nice to know you have the option.
