Let's see: thin, check; light, check; stylish silver body, check. Yup, just about everything Tosh needs for a viable MacBook Air contender. But what's this poking out the side? A DVD burner – and built-in 3G too? Take that, Apple!

The Portege R500 also weighs in at a tiny 999g with its 120GB standard hard drive, or a staggeringly low 779g when the hard drive and DVD burner are swapped out for a speedy 64GB of solid-state memory.

However, the newly-announced Air hasn't got much else to worry about: the smaller 12.1in screen, thicker 26mm frame and weedier low-voltage 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo chip-set are unlikely to ruffle feathers at Apple HQ.

Still, if we're judging by USB ports (and we love a good USB port here at Stuff Towers) the Tosh trumps Apple 3 to 1. How do you like that then, Jobs?
