World Cup sponsor Toshiba will be secretly hoping for another glorious England failure at tournament this summer – it’s offered to refund two thirds of the price on a range of its laptops if Becks lifts the Jules Rimet trophy.

A full list of the eligible laptops for the ‘66 offer’ can be found here, but it essentially covers any of its Intel Centrino Duo laptops bought between 27th April and 8th June.

So, if you buy, say, a Qosmio G30 (above) between the dates, all you do is register it within seven days on the site, wait for a footballing miracle and you’ll get £990 back from your original £1500 outlay.

Considering the metatarsals of our best player are currently in pieces, Toshiba isn’t exactly sticking its neck out with the offer, but if you were procrastinating on buying a Qosmio, now might be a good time to take the plunge.

To give you an idea of how likely a refund would be, England have now slipped behind a woeful German side in the World Cup odds, but are still third favourites at 9/1.

If you’re something of a Tosh expert, you might want to consider entering the company’s other competition, which quizzes you on its tech for a chance to win one of 200 tickets for the World Cup.
