Entrants must upload a mix on the new www.letsmix.com social-networking and blogging site – and then promote it. So it’s not just a test of musical talent; you have to have a business head on your shoulders, too.
And the prize? Not small. The winner will get a contract with a pro DJ agency and record label; two Pioneer CDJ-2000 CD turntables and a Tonium Pacemaker; a feature in DJ magazine; a mix compilation album release on Beatport; and a showcase at the 2010 Winter Music Conference in Miami.
The first stage of the competition – uploading, marketing and promoting – is open now, and closes on 31 January. Stage two – a competition between 100 finalists – opens on 1 February. You don’t need a Pacemaker to enter, either.
