I'm know i'm slightly encroaching on Fragdolls territory here (sorry girls) but i make no excuses, the launch of Guitar Hero II is prime material for Music Stuff as far as i'm concerned. Well, it's music related isn't it? Come on, you even get a free guitar with it.

For those of you yet to have your lives enriched by this gem of a game, Guitar Hero is just about the only reason I turn on my PS2. It's a bit like those dance mat games that were popular 5 years ago but with an guitar instead. So rather than standing on coloured pads in time to music, you hit fret buttons and a strum bar on a plastic Gibson SG.

With a bit of practice you'll be shredding like the legendary Dimebag Darrell, to monsters of rock such as Freebird (if you can nail the solo on that first time i'll shake your hand), Dick Dale's Misirlou (you know, the track over the opening credits of Pulp Fiction) and even a Spinal Tap classic.

It's best playing on your own if you're a little self conscious of pulling rock shapes, but the two player game will let one of you take lead guitar, while the other deals with bass or rhythm. That's a bona fide band in the making i reckon.

Now if you'll excuse me, i've got a gig to play. Which way was the stage?
