The humble Walkman has shrunk to new depths. It's squeezed out a music player that looks like it'd be more at home carting Office files than spinning tunes. The tiny new E-Series offering weighs just 29g and is a meagre 8cm long. It comes in doses of 1, 2 or 4GB, and, no, your eyes do not deceive you, that is a colour OLED screen for showing the tiniest artwork we’ve seen.Combining the best of both old and new Shuffles, the E-Series resurrects the direct-to-USB connector of Apple's first mini-'Pod and – take note of this new Shuffle fans – doesn't just come with a clip; it comes with a choice of two (gulp). You can have either slim and slender (pictured) or fat and chunky for extra, er, gripiness. Clip that in your pipe and smoke it, Apple. On board, Sony Clear Audio and Clear Bass technology should, in theory, make it sound as good as its bigger brothers, while the battery holds out for 30 hours of play. For those who like to accessorise, we've also seen some matching armband and pendant goodies and a compatible colour-screened micro system for you to plug into back at the ranch. No UK deets at the moment but we're making a Shuffle-shaped space in our unwanted gadgets drawer in readiness.
