Sadly eschewing the all black cases of their sexier NV-series cousins and fellow L-series cams, the new Samsung L-Series additions get bog-standard silver coats for their lithe aluminium bodies.Inside the slightly plain L730 is a 7.2MP sensor, 3x optical zoom, a high 1600 ISO for low-light shots and face recognition for sharper mugs. The otherwise identical L830 gets an 8MP chip shoved inside. Both have 2.5in screens and will shoot pleasingly hi-res 800x592 videos at 30fps.Upping the style stakes is the L83T (pictured), which takes over where the L77 left off. It boosts the megapixel count to eight and borrows the non-extending, 3x zooming internal lens from the i-Series snappers, which keeps things nice and trim.As well as all the face recognition and high-ISO features, the L83T also gets Sammy's Advanced Shake Reduction which quickly takes two shots in low light – one with the flash and one without, but with the the ISO boosted. Then it asks you which one you like the look of. Should save on the usual 'the flash didn't go off' remarks.Essentials Samsung L730, L830, L83T Price: £120, £150, £180 On sale: Augut Contact: Samsung Related stories: New Casio Exilims shoot straight to YouTube Budget shooters from BenQ Nine new HP Photosmarts - collect them all
