Sky's digital TV heavyweight belt has slipped around its ankles. Tech Digest has revealed that Sky's cable rival Telewest is to launch a High Definition TV service this year, months ahead of its beefy contender. The content (much of which will come from the US where HDTV is already as cheap as chips), will be distributed through Telewest's video-on-demand network and available only through Telewest's personal video recorder box (PVR). At 160GB, Telewest's PVR slamdunks Sky with three video tuners (Sky has only got two), so you can record two programmes while watching a third. Something tells us this is only the beginning ...
