Tattoos are risky business. Not only do you need a great design, but it is imperative you opt for something that won't make you face palm 20 years down the line and consider blowing your life savings on its removal because you thought it would be a good idea to put that there. The solution? Tattoo your phone instead courtesy of O2. No, you're right, it's not the same, but it's a pain-free (and cheaper) alternative which can be discarded quicker than you can say skin graft.

O2 has opened a couple of phone tattoo parlours in London and Manchester and throughout December are offering new and upgrading customers the opportunity to personailse their new handsets for absolutely nothing.

You're spoilt for choice with around 500 designs ranging from butterflies to band logos to animals. As an alternative, customers can also get their name tattooed onto their phone.. or a selection of rude words - it's up to you. There is however a 9 letter limit.

The place to do it: The flagship O2 store on Oxford Street and the Manchester Arndale Centre. You can even check out what design you want at o2phonetattoos.co.uk before paying O2 a visit.

It's not quite the permanent accessory that comes hand in hand with a proper tattoo, but at least this way you can afford to be impulsive, minus the anguish.
