The TAG Heuer Monaco is nothing short of a legend in the luxury watch world. It's been 40 years since the classic chronograph first appeared (on the wrist of Steve McQueen, no less), and to celebrate the occasion TAG has launched a brand new special limited edition version.
Softpedia says the company is to roll out only 5,000 Monaco Calibre 12 Gulf watches, which will also sport some vintage Gulf oil branding - inspired by the Porsche Gulf 917K driven by McQueen in the movie Le Mans.
The watch is plated with anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the front and back, and the high performance Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph Movement. The dial takes its cues from the Porsche 917K, while the strap is grey alligator skin.
We think you'll agree that it looks very nice indeed, but if you want one you might well need some Sir Fred Goodwin-esque funds. There's no pricing info available yet, but we should hear more before the watch becomes available in September 2009.
