Here's a turn up for the books – a video posted online seems to show that the T-Mobile G1 is fully capable of aping the iPhone's multi-fingered touchscreen talents.

The beauty of the G1's open-source Android operating system is that it can easily be developed for by clever coders – folks like RyeBrye (not his real name, we suspect), who has just posted a proof of concept video demonstrating some impressive two-fingered fiddling on the G1's screen.

He claims the app demoed on his clip is just a very basic effort, and that there's much more that can be done with Android and the G1 (or, we guess, any future Android-powered handset with a touchscreen).

So, while the multitouch capabilities are a long way from matching the super-slick interface of the iPhone, we could definitely see some very handy dual-digit applications appear over the next few months.

In the meantime, watch us get all touchy-feely with the Android handset in our T-Mobile G1 video here.
