LG continues its mildly eccentric theme of phone nicknames with the Shine. It certainly beats the SHX-C340 in terms of snappiness but we can see it going pear-shaped three years down the line with the Flap, or perhaps the Cretin. The Shine echoes the Chocolate’s sense of sleek, Milan-catwalk style and if the Chocolate’s popularity is anything to go by, we’ll have many more LG phones stolen from our desks over the coming months.Strut your stuffUnsurprisingly feature-light – this is a pure poseurs phone after all – the Shine’s USP is its full metal jacket of rugged stainless steel and its ‘magic’ screen that turns into a mirror when not in use. Hang on, we’ve definitely seen that many times before. It also crams in a state-of-the-art 2MP camera, which, again is nothing revolutionary. Your casual mentions of ‘hi-tech functionality’ and ‘perfect balance of design and technology’ don’t fool us, LG.So we’re left with a shiny fashion phone that does things other mobiles were doing two years ago. Which no one but LG could possibly get away with. In fact, if it wasn’t so beautiful and unavailable (until 2007) we might not be able to forgive it. Damn our fickle, image-obsessed ways. We love it. More, LG! More!
