A billion YouTube users a month, new Canon cameras and a Garage Band update grace today's diary

Canon reveals new PowerShot SX820 HS compact cam

Canon has unveiled a pair of mid-range PowerShot SX models – the SX280 HS and SX270 HS. Office Cat is told that the only difference between them is that the HS lacks Wi-Fi and GPS. But what features do they share? Well, Canon's new DIGIC 6 image processor for starters, followed by a 20x optical zoom and Full HD 60p video. A 12.1MP sensor, 3in screen and Hybrid Auto mode (which records four seconds prior to each shot before choosing the best one) also grace the spec sheet. They can be yours in May for £300 and £280.

GarageBand plays nice with Audiobus

GarageBand for the iPad is now compatible with Audiobus. That's right commuter DJs, you can now connect your jams in Garageband to a whole host of music apps from the likes of Korg, ThumbJam, Animoog and plenty more. Now someone can please hurry up and usurp Deadmau5. Rodents should not be famous.

YouTube hits one billion monthly viewers

YouTube has announced that it receives over one billion users a month. That's nearly one out of every two people on the entire internet. Or the equivalent of ten Super Bowl audiences. If YouTube were a country, it would be the third largest in the word behind Chine and India. Those are all ways YouTube chose to express their impressive figure, and Office Cat's mind is suitably boggled.
