Behold, the roadie killer! No, not several bottles of cheap cider and a judicious pile of pharmaceutical strength drugs – the Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitar. Nestled among the usual tone and volume dials is another more magical control that lets you choose your tuning. Make your choice; press the centre of the knob and strum. In about five seconds, micro-motors in the tuning pegs will wind the strings and you’re ready to rock. Indicators in the back of the headstock let you know if the strings are still in tune and the system can store more unusual tunings to impress your artrock friends. You can even retrofit it to almost any guitar by changing the headstock and adding a tune-control bridge. The first run is a limited edition but a regular model is expected in late 2008. Now, please join us in a tribute to roadies all over the world. Altogether now: 1, 2, 1, 2, 1,1, 2, 2, 2….Check back later in the week when we’ve got an exclusive hands-on video with Gibson’s most tech-filled axe going live on Stuff.tv.Essentials Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitar Price: £1400 On sale: 7 December Contact: Gibson
