Gadget of the Day: Adidas/Polar Project Fusion

What poor imagination the script writers of Back to the Future had. Here we are in 2006 and wearable technology is light years ahead of that displayed in Marty’s 2015 excursion.

This collaboration between Adidas and Polar, for example, gives us a heart-rate monitor built into a running top, a stride sensor built into a trainer, and a wrist computer that receives info from each wirelessly and collates it into a training log.

All that’s missing is the disembodied consciousness of a dead comrade, a la Rogue Trooper, in each device. You know, someone to talk to in a marathon.

The whole Adidas/Polar Project Fusion set will set you back £450. Run over (not too quickly, mind) to www.adidas-polar.com for a video guide.
