There’s good news for Xbox owners who want some nostalgia in their gaming diet –Live Arcade will be getting a classic new game every Wednesday for the next five weeks.

The one we’re most excited about is Street Fighter 2, which will be available to download as a demo and as a full game from August 2nd. Yes, Ken’s uppercuts, Dhalsim’s bendy limbs and Guile’s sonic booms will all be available online in an arcade perfect version, with the controls re-configured for the Xbox’s control pad.

That’s just the start of the nostalgia trip; you’ll be getting Frogger, the early ’80s arcade game, on July 12th, Cloning Clyde on July 19th, Galaga on July 26th and, to finish off in style, Pac Man on August 9th.

This is likely to be just a taster of games from your youth. Most of the world’s major publishers are said to be working on Xbox Live Arcade titles to make sure your 360 is also your old SNES, Megadrive and Amiga rolled into one, and Microsoft hopes there’ll be 50 titles by the end of the year. As long as Afterburner, Chase HQ and Double Dragon are among them, we’ll be happy.
