Apple supremo Steve Jobs was in line to receive an honorary knighthood back in 2009, only to have the process blocked by then-PM Gordon Brown, claims an unnamed “former senior Labour MP”.
According to The Telegraph, the MP in question put his Steve-ness forward for the knighthood for his services to technology. It went to the final stages of approval, but the Prime Minister rejected it.
Why? Well, the MP claims it was because Jobs turned down an invitation to speak at the Labour Party conference. Who’d a thunk Gordy could be so spiteful?
