Steve Jobs – I'm not dying

Steve Jobs has moved to kill off talk of his demise as Apple CEO, confirming that while he is unwell, the illness is minor and that he will be continu

In a carefully worded statement, Jobs says, "Unfortunately, my decision to have Phil [Schiller] deliver the Macworld keynote set off another flurry of rumours about my health, with some even publishing stories of me on my deathbed.

"As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. The reason has been a mystery to me and my doctors.

"Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause—a hormone imbalance that has been “robbing” me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis."

He goes on to say that the nutritional problem is treatable and that he'll be staying in his role as boss of Apple, and that he will be the first to tell the board if he doesn't feel up to the job.

In closing remarks Jobs says, "So now I’ve said more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say, about this." Apple's board has offered its full support.

So, now he's cleared that one up once and for all, we can look forward to a hearty dose of Apple goodies tomorrow. You can follow Phil Schiller's keynote live here at And remember to check out our hottest predictions for Macworld too!
