Steinway & Sons has built a reputation as the finest piano maker of the 150 years, but that’s apparently not enough for the ivory tinkler. Now it wants to take over the world of hi-fi – with the Steinway Lyngdorf Model-D Music System. This giant system has been developed with the help of digital amplifier maestros Lyngdorf Audio. The amp and speakers, steeped in sumptuous gold and black and liberally littered with evidence of its prestigious manufacturer, will use Lyngdorf’s revolutionary Room-Perfect technology, which means it can apparently be adapted to the acoustics of any environment. Well, that’s the least we’d expect for the $150,000 (£75,000) price tag.The system is set to launch later this year and will be available in the UK, but only to those with more money than…well, us.
