The borderless Flash video player will run within Spotify, and give you the chance to pause, play and rewind the trailer – although as you might imagine, there's no fast forward to get it out of the way any quicker.
Although it's being touted as purely an advertising tool, the appearance of video in Spotify does lead to the question if it's just a matter of time before we'll see video content such as music videos on Spotify as well.
With YouTube still lacking official music videos in the UK due to an ongoing scuffle with the Performing Rights Society, this could be a huge market for Spotify, and one we're sure Roberta and her team haven't been eyeing up already.
The first video advert is set to debut today for the Denzel Washington and John Travolta thriller, The Taking of Pelham 123 – we'll just have to be patient and wait to see if we see an increase in the service's offering.
