South Park RPG to be made by Fallout studio

Will the new game be worthy of the TV series, or just another flop?

A South Park game video game is set to be developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC by Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian.

We haven't seen a South Park video game since 1998 and it certainly didn't do the TV series justice. If you haven't played it, you can check out the gameplay on YouTube.

However, because Obsidian is on board, we're cautiously hopeful that the forthcoming South Park: The Game will exceed our expectations. Also, it will be overseen by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, so we're hoping they've learnt their lesson from last time.

We don't know much at the moment other than it will be an RPG and the playable character is a new kid in South Park who joins in with the gang to "defend the town from a wide range of threats", and probably deal with a few of Cartman's tantrums along the way, we imagine.

More will be revealed in the January issue of Game Informer magazine, but we're hoping the new South Park game we always wanted.
