Dancing robots are exactly the kind of gadget we want to see greeting us of a Monday morning, bleary–eyed and regretting last night’s ‘one extra pint’.

Which is why we’re glad to see Sony’s gone all official with a black version of Rolly, their MP3–loving ‘droid.

Not only has he had a new paintjob, you can also get new, fancy blue or red end–caps (we prefer calling them flaps, but let’s stick with the official line) to stick onto his bod’.

That way he’ll look even more colourful as he wends his way to the edge of your desk, keeping to the beat of the 90s rave mix you’re pumping through his system.

The new black edition is due in Japan on April 19 for around £200. The original still doesn’t have a firm release date here in the UK, so you’ll just have to make do with a spot interweb based shopping for now.

You can check out our thoughts on his Rollyness's first coming right here.
