All that black and silver getting you down? Not to worry, Sony's new CR series lappies have been given all-over paint jobs to arrive in five different hues.Opting for the base model will still get you bog standard black (pictured centre) but take the spec up a notch and you can also choose from 'Luxury Pink', 'Pure (read MacBook) White' (right) and 'Indigo Blue', which is 'dynamic, in-vogue and urban', apparently. Those opting for the ultimate spec are awarded with an extra large hard drive, better graphics and a coat of 'bold', 'energetic' and, er, 'sexy', 'Blazing Red' (left). Blimey. All get shiny new Centrino Duo 1.8GHz processors and up to 160GB of hard disk space with a meaty 2GB of RAM, or 1GB if you go for the basic model. The red range topper won't be quite blazing enough for high-end gamers but its ATI Radeon HD2300 graphics card will handle HD video with aplomb, though alas, there's no Blu-ray drive. The rest get meeker Intel integrated graphics. It's a little bit style over substance for our tastes – but then that pink one does look rather nice.Essentials Sony Vaio CR SeriesPrice: £880 - £1100 On sale: Mid July Contact: Sony Related stories: Baby Vaio packs solid state surprise Sony Vaio FZ gets Blu-ray as standard Sony readies summer Bravias
