This is the ‘cheap’ version of Sony’s VPL-VW100 but don’t go getting any ideas – it still costs more than a Caribbean cruise. But for those with a few grand lying around, there’s plenty here for your money.Featuring full 1080p resolution and a stonking 15,000:1 contrast ratio, it is seriously well equipped. The latter is achieved thanks to a human-like ‘iris’ that enlarges and contracts depending on the amount of light the picture demands.Twin-HDMI slots are ready for hooking up to an HD DVD or Blu-Ray player, together with a PS3 or Sky box. With a 1.8x zoom it can project a cinema-worrying 100-inch (or 8ft 4in!) picture while sitting anywhere between 3 and 5.5m away. The only compromise is that it spews out a ‘mere’ 200w of light rather than the VW100’s 400w.
