While others are content with mere standard earbuds, Sony's been coming up with some pretty weird and wonderful designs of late – such as the PFR-V1 Personal Field Speakers.

Now it's fleshed out the rest of the range. For sporty types there's the MDR-AS Active Series, headed up by the MDR-AS100W (pictured). It gets an icky-sounding 'moisture guard' and a secure behind-the-ear fit for all that, er, jogging we keep meaning to do. The similarly styled MDR-AS40EX have removable ear clips for converting into standard in-ear 'phones.

Looking like a pair of ear buds with a tumour, the MDR-EX700LP offer the largest driver in their class – a stonking 16mm that boasts high sensitivity, better dynamic range and thumping bass. The smaller MDR-EX75SL buds promise almost as much, but without the out-size driver poking out.

They should all be arriving along with the PFR-V1 in April. Our Walkmans are looking forward to meeting them.
