Good old Sony. It giveth, then it taketh away. Then it giveth again. News just in that Head of Worldwide Studios at Sony, Phil Harrison, has claimed that the forthcoming PS3 will actually be able to play over 1000 PS2 games from 23 March. A quick calculation reveals that you’ll have approximately 41 per cent of all PS2 games available in Europe at your disposal. OK, so it’s still a long way off Sony’s previous announcement that all games would be playable on the new machine, along with the fact that 98 per cent of existing PlayStation games work on US and Japanese models, but it hopefully means that a lot of old favourites will work from day one. We’re also told that Sony engineers are still beavering away emulating old games, but there’s been no word on the amount of PSOne games that work from PS3 day one. We’ll keep you posted…
