Those teasing chaps at Sony Ericsson have been dangling the possibility of a PSP-based gaming phone in front of our twitching nostrils for yonks now. And the first slice of credible evidence that it could be in development has slipped onto our radar this morning.
This pic we peeped on Sony Ericsson blog SE-NSE is a leaked snap of the F305, a reasonably low-end gaming phone but with Playstation-like controls on its bod – you can just see the X and O buttons on the right hand side by the screen and the cross-shaped d-pad on the left.
It packs an accelerometer for motion-controlled gaming with three games pre-loaded: Bowling, Bass Fishing and Jockey. We've got everything crossed for a motion-controlled Frankie Dettori on that last one.
Everywhere else it's pretty standard fare. EDGE browsing speeds, a 2MP camera, A2DP bluetooth for wireless headphones or multiplayer gaming and SE's music recognition app, TrackID. So far, so standard, but could it point to a forthcoming high-end PSP-branded gaming phone? We wouldn't bet our grans on it, but we're not ruling it out either.
We're expecting to get hands-on with the F305 at a Sony Ericsson launch tomorrow night, along with the recently leaked 8MP camphone, so keep it locked to Stuff.tv for some vids very soon.
