Seriously, this whole 'thin' thing is getting out of hand. First we had Samsung with the world's slimmest 7x zooming compact at 21mm thick. Now we have the world's thinnest 7x zooming wide-angle compact, from Ricoh. At a (ahem) 'lardy' 23mm, the R6 can't completely lay waste to the svelte Samsung L77 but it can claim to be just 20.6mm at its thinnest point (now we really are splitting hairs) and of course it has the added bonus of that wide-angle lens.Combined with the 7.1x zoom it has a handy 28-200mm focal length covering just about everything from elevator group shots to long-range papping.A 7.2MP sensor and full fat, CCD-shifting anti-shake are also in there, plus this season's must have; auto face recognition, for picking out each beaming mug rather than the floral wallpaper in the background (attractive as that may be).Now if you excuse us we're off to launch our own thin model – it's the world's slimmest 3MP, 3x zoom, found-in-a-drawer-this-morning-with-tea-stains-on-it Kodak. Any takers?
Slim nit-pickings from Ricoh's R6
