Skype HD coming to a TV near you this spring

Skype has just made two announcements that will see the video calling service available in 720p HD, and in a few months, embedded in the latest intern

The HD video calls will be made possible through the latest beta version of Skype for Windows which now support HD quality video at 1280 x 720 resolution and 30fps.

Three new, Skype certified HD webcams are set to hit stores soon, optimised for HD video calling.

However probably the biggest news is Skype's deal with LG and Panasonic, which will also support HD video calls all built in to the TV.

Set to hit shops sometime this spring, you'll need to buy a TV-ready webcam but the rest will be accessible through your TV, allowing you to make video calls from your sofa.
