Skype is slipping from the grips of its current owner eBay but that's not the only big news from the VOIP service – it's planning a platform to allow third party apps to make Skype calls.
Skype's general manager of audio and video, Jonathan Christensen, has been spilling the beans to the tech rumour rakers at TechCrunch. He says a new platform will allow developers to build new services onto Skype.
There's no more concrete details yet but allowing third party apps could mean Skype calls from our favourite Twitter apps and potentially integrated with your contacts in Facebook.
If we can find out more about the feverishly exciting future of Skype, well it'll be up here quicker than you can say: "I can't really here what you're saying. Is the mic turned on?"
