Siemens has told us that rumours of a forthcoming Moto RAZR V3-style challenger are true – and that we should hear more about the ‘SLV 140′ (pictured top) in the New Year.
Details leaked out in the t’interweb show it to be very similar in style to the Motorola (recently named chaviest phone of the year) but our sources couldn’t confirm whether the sneak pics are the final design we’ll see next year.
Reported specs suggest it’ll be 3G with video calling thanks to a swivel lens in the hinge. The camera promises to be 2.0 megapixels and it’ll also take miniSD cards.
Given the lack of side on photos it’s hard to say how thin it is but it’s hard to believe it’ll be as svelte as a V3 with that barrel of a lens stuck in the middle
Still, it’s got to be hard news for Moto which has had the ultra-thin clamshell market pretty much to itself since creating it last year. And with other contenders coming from NEC (the L1) and Samsung (the A900), there won’t have been this many super thin models fighting it out since Tyra Banks squared up to Naoimi Campbell on her US TV show.
Naturally, the US giant isn’t going to take it lying down. It’s already fighting back with its own update – the V3i (pictured above) – which adds a megapixel camera and ROKR style iTunes compatibility. Fight, fight, fight, fight!
