Nintendo has released a teaser video showing the Revolution console – and its motion-sensitive controller – in action. The more we watch it, the more unnaturally excited we feel.
The video doesn't contain any shots of the games in action. What it does show is the controller being used as a sword, a golf club, a fishing rod, a conductor's baton… even a dentist's drill. Having been highly sceptical when the first pictures of the one-handed, remote control-shaped handset surfaced, we're now getting ready to eat our mealy-mouthed words.
After all, Nintendo gave the world the D-pad and the analogue stick… this new, physical gameplay could be a real leap forward – but only if the games are top notch. History suggests they will be.
Nintendo is still an outsider in the coming console wars – but when the Revolution arrives in 2006, will Xbox or PlayStation be first against the wall?
