It's like all our birthdays and Christmases come at once. First up pops iriver's battery sipping X20 PMP and now we get word that Sanyo's hi-def filming wonder, the HD2, is about to land here, too. It's being wheeled into stores for 1st April (no joke), enabling budding Tarantinos to enjoy pocketsize filming in lush 720p HD, with a monster 10x zoom and up to 7.2MP stills as well.Sanyo reckons the HD1 successor is the smallest and lightest movie maker of its kind. We'll say it's not quite as tiny as Panny's soap-bar SDR-S10 but then that little 'corder only manages lo-def pics, so we'll let the HD2 keep its crown. We're assured it will come bundled with the HDMI dock (including cable) for splashing its hi-def footage direct to an HD-ready telly. In fact, on-camera editing means PCs can be avoided altogether. Alternatively, use the bundled Ulead software to cut and burn your sci-fi, rom-com masterpiece to DVD.We did spy the new Xacti online at one large etailer already, only to see it pulled. We'll just have to hold our HD horses 'til the official launch date instead.Clamp your eager peepers onto big boss Tom's Future Stuff blog to find out his first impressions.
