Samsung’s keyboard-less computer gets an, um, keyboard

We love nothing better than the opportunity to say ‘we told you so’, and this is the day we smugly tell Samsung that ‘people like their laptops to have a keyboard’.

Earlier this month, Sammie launched the Q1 Ultra Mobile PC, hailing it as a revolution in computing and telling us the future was touchscreen. After playing with it for two weeks we decided we’d rather try opening a coconut with our bare teeth. In an online world dominated by search, having no keys is maddening.

Well, Samsung’s admitted as much today, turning the £800 Q1 into a bundle that comes with a ‘free’ USB keyboard and carry case, pictured. So the whole caboodle looks a bit like a laptop with a cloth spine, messy wires and a keyboard that’s a different size to the screen.

We still think the concept’s an iffy one, but if the Q1 floats your boat, it’s now available from Micro Anvika, John Lewis and online emporium Expansys. Pick up the august issue of Stuff, out July 3rd, for a full review.
