I've said 'touch is the new button' so many times that I'm actually starting to believe it. But much as I adore Apple's Multi-touch, writing an email on the iPhone is about as much fun as prodding a dead fish. Oh how I long for the physical feedback of a proper button!

But wait - an answer is at hand. Samsung's latest touchscreen handset takes haptic technology (aka 'force feedback) to new levels, packing in 22 different types of vibration. I never knew there were so many ways to shake.

According to The Register, the Samsung AnyCall Haptic SCH-W420 sends out different signals depending on whether you're clicking the virtual analogue volume knob or typing out a text message.

The SCH-W420 is only available in Korea for now, but a global showing for the haptic technology is ineveitable. I just wish I could feel my iPhone trembling with fear.
