Samsung guns for the iPad with its P10 tablet

Sammy's newly-revealed slate features a Retina Display-challenging screen and a supercharged Exynos 5 Dual processor

While Apple and Samsung slug it out in the courtrooms, Sammy's developers are working extra hard to find original ideas. This drive for a mould-breaking design has birthed the rumoured Samsung P10 tablet – which is set to challenge Apple's Retina Display iPad with a stunning 2560x1600px 11.8in display and blisteringly fast Exynos 5 Dual processor.

While Apple’s iPad crams 264ppi into a 9.7in display, the P10 will squeeze 256ppi into a larger 11.8in screen – displays being an area that Samsung excels in. Then there’s the new Exynos 5 Dual chip – which, as you’ve probably guessed, is dual core. Nevertheless, Sammy reckons that it'll be nearly twice as fast as the current A9.

That means you’ll be able to run 1080p video, with a UI over the top, and have a camera preview active, encode video at the same time, and all while outputting to a separate display via HDMI. Okay, we're struggling to imagine the circumstances under which you'd actually do that, but it shows just how easily this graphically powerful beast will handle anything you throw at it. Couple that with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the iPad will start to look positively aged when this lands later in the year.
