Samsung Galaxy S II sales hit 3 million

The Android hero handset hits the big time

Samsung has announced that Galaxy S II sales have toppled over the 3 million mark worldwide after just 55 days. That means they've sold over 2000 of their flagship Android smartphone per hour since it went on sale, and beaten the record set by the original Galaxy S – 85 days to reach 3 million.

Before the Android fanbois start whooping and hollering, though, remember that Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4s in the first three days. And the iPhone 5 is just over the horizon.
