Samsung Galaxy Note gets November 17 release date
Is it a giant smartphone or a teeny tablet? Whatever your perspective, it's out next month

Despite having an identity crisis, Samsung’s super-sized-phone-come-tiny-tablet Galaxy Note was undoubtedly one of the more exciting reveals at this year’s IFA. Now, it turns out we’re not going to have to wait till next year to get our grubby mitts all over its 5.3in screen, as it’s just been slapped with a 17 November launch date. That leaves you with more than enough time to get your Christmas wish list over to Santa for a festive delivery.
Samsung’s smartphone/tablet hybrid will be available across major networks, although we’re yet to find out who has officially jumped on board. Taking a trip to high street and mass market retailers will also bag you a shiny new mini tab.
Need a quick spec refresh? The Galaxy Note’s screen is of the HD Super AMOLED variety, while a 1.4GHz dual-core processer runs the show. The micro-tab’s pressure sensitive S Pen has you covered in the note taking department (hence the name), and it’s pretty pocket friendly, too, coming in at only 178g and 9.65mm thick. Most excitingly are the clever little tricks it has up its sleeve, like pausing a video when your hand obscures the screen. According to Sammy, it’s the company’s fastest handset to date, too. Used a Galaxy S II? Then you’ll know how impressive that is. Check out our video preview for a closer look.
